BAND: Evanescence
ALBUM: “Fallen”
Most people would have heard this bands debut single. The storming Bring Me To Life was a massive rock hit when first released back in 2002. But have you taken the time to listen to the whole album? It is well worth a listen, a musical treat of hard catchy rock and beautiful vocal ballads form lead singer, Amy Lee. Of course Bring Me To Life is definitely a favourite but from the opening track, Going Under to the finishing song Whisper, the listener is taken on an eclectic mix of hard distorted guitars, beautiful vocal melodies and great driving drum beats.
The drummer? Session rock supremo, Josh Freese of course! Freese’s playing is tasteful and clever, with some lovely little drum licks and excellent, well placed double bass work.

Drummers Collective “25th Anniversary Celebration ‘02”
This is a great double disc package that features world famous Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Horacio Hernandez as well as the world famous faculty teachers Memo Acevedo, Kenwood Denard, Michael Lauren and Kim Plainfield. Bass players extraordinaire, Victor Wooten, John Patitucci and Felix Passtorious also have feature spots.
Each drummer is playing with a group, not just solo and all live up to their high expectations. Each player is different, Weckl carries the fusion flag, Hernandez is a Latin monster and Smith displaces unbelievable chops and tricks whilst Gadd does what he does best: Playing the greatest feeling drums you can get. If you have never seen any of these drummers then you are in for a real treat. It is a great value package that will inspire and educate you onto a new level.
